Different Attitudes towards People with Intellectual Disabilities between Early Childhood Care and Education Teachers and Undergraduate Students
10th International congress EAMHID(European association for mental health in intellectual disability)
Negative attitudes in society towards people with intellectual disabilities are major problems for normalizing their quality of life. The aims of this study were to investigate attitudes towards people with intellectual disabilities and to clarify the different of attitudes between early childhood care and education teachers and undergraduate students.
The results revealed that the difference of the “normalization” factor was significant between the childhood care and education teachers and the undergraduate students (t=4.06, p<.01). The difference of the “avoiding contact” factor was found not significant between the early childhood care and education teachers and the undergraduate students (t=1.15, n.s.). Other findings and results are explained in the poster presentation.
